The consistent insufficiency in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense rather baffling, in one way or another.
In past years, the city was a region where numerous South Africans would drop by to escape from the especially restricted protocols on games of chance (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. For these reasons, you may count on somewhat of a thriving industry to cater to that tourist business.
At the same time, perhaps it isn’t much of a discovery. The state is one of the poorest in the world, having gone through a frightening civil war (followed by destructive floods) from which it is still, very slowly, getting back on its feet. This could make a place less of a tourist target, despite the fact that there is today a inviting ambiance along a few of the territory’s attractive beaches.
It is also valid that regionally at a minimum, Mozambique’s casinos have had to cross with several others in the lately liberalized South Africa, which includes the prominent Sun City founded by the Kerzner family establishment.
Here’s a list of Casinos in Mozambique:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy eight slot machines and video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, in addition a poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and also punto banco.
It is thought that over time the total tourism business in Mozambique will expand adequately. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is in addition the balance of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and escalating origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the global phenomenon. The country is extremely cheap (obviously, as it is extremely poor) and as above, has some of the most beautiful beaches world wide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the sorts of assets that make tourism agents drool, and as the country climbs out of its current slump, it is likely that not only will tourism boost, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer too.
While the country is skeptical to ever regain its character as a spot for partying South Africans, as there are now other selections closer to home for them to revel in, the growth of a long distance tourism industry is being line up. This would be to satisfy Europeans bargaining on winter sun, as a break from the blues of the Northern Hemisphere winter. In addition, clearly, the most elite prawns (shrimp) over the world derive from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
